The Story

Café de Altura, established in 2004, is a co-op collectively owned by over 570 local producers. This particular coffee comes from Esteban Villalobos, one of the dedicated producers in the region. Costa Rica is well known for its high-altitude coffees, and this batch is no exception, grown at an impressive 1,600 meters above sea level.

The unique anaerobic fermentation process used here adds to the coffee’s distinct flavor profile. Cherries are fermented in sealed tanks without oxygen, activating dormant microbes that contribute complex flavors and ensure consistent quality. This controlled fermentation process, along with temperature regulation, allows Esteban to craft a coffee that is as unique as it is flavorful.


The Roaster

Roasted Brown’s journey began with Ferg Brown’s passion for coffee, from working at a café in Dublin to roasting his own beans. Founded in 2015, Roasted Brown focuses on crafting exceptional coffees with deep flavor profiles.
