The Story

Juan Pablo Garcia, a first-generation coffee producer, has cultivated a profound passion for coffee farming since he began in 1980, right after the armed conflict in Guatemala concluded. Living on his farm Mesté with his family, he named it for the flat land that is bordered by rolling hills. Though he started his journey without any prior experience in coffee cultivation, Juan's determination and commitment have driven him to improve the quality of his coffee over the years. Now at 67, his greatest motivation comes from witnessing the happiness of his family, prompting him to invest in better farming practices and infrastructure to secure a brighter future for his children.

This exceptional lot comprises 100% Caturra variety coffee, specifically roasted for filter brewing. The resulting cup is a delightful balance of jammy blackberry and bright mandarin notes, finishing with a rich dark chocolate aftertaste. Juan Pablo oversees every aspect of his coffee production, from harvesting to processing. Once processed, his coffee is milled by La Central de Café, which handles export documentation and transportation to the port, while Primavera Green Coffee manages shipping to the roastery. The dedication and meticulous care that Juan puts into his coffee make it one of the standout Guatemalan coffees of the year!

Founded in 2018, Calendar Coffee is a roastery owned and run by founders Zarah Lawless and Daniel Boobier.
