The Story
Finca Los Nances, owned by Gloria Henriquez, is a small yet dynamic coffee farm that exemplifies resilience and innovation. Despite its modest size of just under one hectare, Gloria has successfully produced high-value micro-lots with the support of Cafesmo. She has worked tirelessly to diversify her operations, incorporating free-range chickens into her farm, which not only contributes to her income but also enriches her farming ecosystem. Gloria’s commitment to quality coffee and sustainable practices reflects her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her craft.
As a fourth-generation coffee producer, Gloria draws from a rich history of coffee farming that began in her childhood, observing her grandparents' hard work. Her journey hasn’t been without challenges; in 2013, her farm faced devastation from coffee leaf rust. This setback forced her into debt and despair, yet Gloria’s tenacity shone through as she gradually rebuilt her farm. Now, as a proud member of the new Women’s Association established by Cafesmo, Gloria looks forward to fostering relationships and collaboration among women coffee producers, inspiring future generations.
