Use this handy calculator to figure out the perfect ratio of coffee to water. 16:1 is our recommendation, but you can achieve stronger or more delicate brews by adjusting it up or down. Lower ratios (1:15) will be stronger, higher ratios (1:17) will be more delicate. Also note that this will calculate the total amount of amount of brewed coffee, accounting for the absorption of water by the coffee grounds.
