How did Gringo Nordic come to be and who makes upGringo Nordic ?

We started roasting five years ago, after buying a coffee farm in Colombia a few year´s prior. We wanted to take the coffee all the way from producer to consumer. The company is run by Pernilla, Johan & Magnus, together with eight employees.

What is Gringo Nordic purpose/mission?

To roast great coffee from great producers. And make this coffee approachable and fun. And be super kind to all human beings – all the time.

Hot take: How would you describe the coffee scene in Ireland?  Overrated or underrated and why?

I have no idea.

BEST coffee you ever had…where?

Impossible question. But we had a beautiful fully washed Ethiopian coffee on the cupping table this morning, that our roaster by mistake roasted even lighter than usual. It turned out to be – probably – our future roasting profile for high grade fully washed Ethiopians.

What's one thing about Gringo Nordic that most people don't know?

That the name comes from Johan our founder´s nickname on his farm Finca La Tierra, there everybody calls him Gringo! First it was behind his back, now it is upfront, often followed with a good laugh.

What do you want to change most about the coffee industry?

I want us to stop treating coffee as a commodity, today most coffees of the world is bought similar to how we buy dead materia. It is crazy and gives the producer no sense of how his future will be.

What's your favourite way to brew and why?

Aeropress – the diversity of the final cup is endless.

What is your favourite processing method at the moment?

Anaerobic honey.
